City of Ottawa - water, sewer
The Ottawa water system is owned and maintained by the City of Ottawa. It is supplied by deep wells and then treated by reverse-osmosis. Water quality is excellent. There is over 1 million gallons per day of excess water capacity. Raw water supply is 6.6 MGD with treatment capacity of 3.7 MGD. Average daily use is 2.6 MGD. Additional supply wells and treatment facilities are planned.
The Ottawa sanitary system and treatment plant are owned and maintained by the City of Ottawa. The Ottawa Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) has 1.0 MGD available excess capacity. The WWTP is rated at 4.0 MGD dry weather flow and can handle a maximum of 20 MGD during wet weather. Average Daily Use is currently 2.6 MGD. An additional 1.0 MGD dry weather capacity is planned and can easily be added.
